Department of Justice says lawsuits are now moot after funds were released.
Federal officials restored federal funding for the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) after radio stations within the agency, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and the Open Technology Fund, sued to have the funding unfrozen. The federal government unfroze the funding ahead of court deadlines meaning that the lawsuit has been rendered moot.
“Plaintiff has secured the primary relief — the withdrawal of the termination of its grant agreement — that it requested in the complaint. Now that Plaintiff has received that relief, Defendants’ position is that this matter is now moot,” the Justice Department wrote in the Open Technology Fund case.
Patrick Daugherty, an attorney representing the plaintiffs, said they will drop its lawsuit once the funds have been delivered.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For God’s perfect will to be accomplished through the various programs and agencies that use federal funding.
- For the Justice Department officials to seek God’s guidance as they seek to carry out justice in America.
- That God to lead the president and federal officials as they work to uphold American law.
